Four project partners/ institutions initiated the project. These came together based on their individual roles, expertise, and a joint objective. They are;
International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA)-responsible for project implementation and the scientific quality of the data collection at plot and household level in the area of agronomy and economy.
International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)- ensures the scientific quality of studies from the household level upward (i.e. market, institutions) with emphasis on socio-economic data.
The Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) focuses on rigorous value-chain data collection and policy design
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF)- internalizes and upgrades its capacity for evidence based policy formulation and implementation.
Another partner Participatory Ecological Land use Management (PELUM)will join the team later and will be in charge of advocacy.
